Many Catholics pray using the rosary. This religious necklace is made up of twenty mysteries which represent significant events or moments in the lives of Jesus Christ and his mother Mary. Following the Apostolic Letter called Rosarium Virginis Mariae, the mysteries of the holy rosary are grouped into four series:

• The joyful mysteries are recited on Mondays and Saturdays
• The mysteries of light are recited on Thursdays
• The sorrowful mysteries are recited on Tuesdays and Fridays
• The glorious mysteries are recited on Wednesdays and Sundays
